Our Story began in 1888 when…
Frank Sprague heard the message of Holiness of heart and life. He attended a Methodist Camp meeting in Claremont, NH. From that transforming experience, the Lord called him to plant a Church known as “Bethany Mission.” In 1908, Bethany Mission became associated with the Church of the Nazarene. The Church of the Nazarene is a Protestant Church in the Wesleyan-Holiness tradition. It was founded to spread the message of Scriptural Holiness (Christlike living) across our world. Since the earliest days, our denomination started churches that focused on a COMMITMENT to cities and the poor, ACTIVE involvement in social issues
and a doctrine of HOPE.
During our congregations 100+ year history, we have worshipped in three locations. The corner of Vernon and Elm Street, formerly a Methodist Church. In 1945, an unfortunate fire lead us to seek a new location. God faithfully blessed us with land at 390 Court Street. By the grace of God our community grew so much that we relocated. In 1971, we began the development of the building that we gather in today.
